melinda & ken: saratoga national

December 30 2009

Well with this wedding post the 2009 wedding season has officially come to an end! Thats 39 weddings for the 2009 season. All 39 weddings were so different! They were fun, challenging, interesting, unique, beautiful, simple, hot, cold, rainy, sunny, colorful, long and some were stressful. That being said Big Joe and myself wouldn’t change a thing! We loved our class of 2009 newlyweds and we’re stoked to have given you all some seriously awesome memories in the form of photos!

So that brings us to wedding #39, Melinda & Ken. This was seriously an awesome event to exit 2009 with. They did it up nice. I believe it was 24 people and of that 24 it was their closest family and friends. They had Saratoga National, they had my wife to be Kris Ann of Fluertacious Desings, they had Al Woodard shooting the motion and they had their favorite band Bulletproof Messenger rock out one of the loudest cocktail hours we’ve ever worked. It was a great day with the bluest of sky’s I’ve seen all of December. Melinda & Ken we thank you both for trusting us with your big day! You both were a pleasure to work with. Congrats!

Enjoy, leave love,
JP

I like this shot of Melinda fixing her shoe.

I’m digging the rare peonies flowers in December. Fleurtacious is awesome!

Stunning..

Seriously, thats a blue sky…

Ceremony time.. This might be one of the most difficult ceremonies we shot all year in terms of lighting.. The backlight was serious.

This image captures almost all their wedding guests including myself and Al W.

I love this stuff…

Might be my fav all day…

It was chilly but a beautiful day!

Some nice details for you..

And I’ll leave you with a few favs from the reception.

December 28 2009

Hi all! I hope Santa was good to everyone. Isn’t the holiday season fun? It’s pretty great shooting weddings this time of year too. Everyones in such a great mood and looking to party. That was the deal for sure at Ryan & Stephen’s wedding. The Historic Canfield Casino is just the greatest place in the world folks. We just love shooting there! I’ll let the images tell the story here. We thank Ryan & Stephen for having us capture their big day! Congrats guys!

Enjoy, leave love,
JP

Ryan’s got some killer blue eyes huh?

Stephen and his boys…

Their first look series was just sweet. I love the contrast between my fathers images and mine here. Just awesome stuff.

The floor is so cool.

Go on Ryan, do the spin around..

Congress Park covered in snow… don’t get much better than this.

It was absolutely freezing. Ryan held it down and never said she was cold. Proves my theory that most brides are numb on wedding day.

Whatever, I know people.

Classic bench/snow shot.

This was just one of those true candid moments that happened and I happened to be shooting them. Probably my fav all day.

The date: December 19.

Remember  where ya saw it first ;)

I’ve never used the phone booth in the Casino so why not?

Some details of an awesome location.

The next time I step into this space wearing a tux it will be our wedding day. I just kept thinking about that throughout their ceremony.

I just love reaction shots of parents during the ceremony.

Lilly & Rose catered this one.

This is a must have image for all Casino weddings.

And because Christmas was 6 days later….

The one photo that said, “a true candid moment”, with their eyes closed, positively breath taking! That is what makes your pictures so special. The look of true happiness, lack of stress, and the love in this photo captures your heart and helps you feel their moment like you know them personally. PERFECT!!!

December 17 2009

I swear I’m alive! So sorry for my lack of posting. Thankfully the holiday rush is quieting down so I can get back to what I love which is blogging. We do however have two weddings left for 2009 and we set off the first two days of the year off with weddings too! So thats what 4 new wedding posts within the next 2 weeks? Not to mention the best of posts are coming back along with something very cool! But this post here is wedding free. This is a little compilation of some of the stuff I’ve shot and hand not blogged. Also there is some holiday stuff I’ve been shooting recently too! Can’t stop, wont stop….

Happy Holidays! Enjoy, leave love,
JP

Over the summer we shot a surprise family portrait and here is the image! The roses were perfect!

Some kid’s just love turning 1… William made a nice mess of my white seamless but whatever it was worth it!

Sofie just cracks me up. In the image on the right she’s like “I’m not feeling this photo session.”

I’ve been photographing these kids for the last 5 or 6 years… It’s fun to watch them grow. The little one Carissa has not really warmed up to me yet!

Ava & Vincent are total hams though.

Carissa is telling me she’s done with me here. Thats ok Carissa little do you know I’ll be seeing you for a Christmas shot.

Just give her candy and she smiles! I especially like Vincent here, he’s a true player.

Speaking of pretty sweet Christmas photos…

You remember that one shot I do every year with all the kids right? Well all we needed was a snow day to coordinate 14 schedules.

Their Mothers like to sing while I shoot!

Look at this little lady I photographed like two weeks ago. She’s so cute!

Here is Grace the 4 month old daughter of a former b&g of ours.

I especially love this b&w of baby Adam.

Just today I photographed Miss Grace for a Christmas card! This is totally a Gap ad.

My favorite image from the shoot.

Did you think I’d leave out our baby Lexie? Yes thats right, she gets a Christmas photo too!

meara emalie: her first year of life

Posted in: Kids / Family

December 8 2009

On September 16th 2008 I received this email from a former bride of ours:

Hi Joe,

I have the most beautiful baby who needs to have her picture taken asap!! She will be a week old tomorrow. Do you think we can do some shots this week?

Jen

The very next day I went to  Jen & Patrick’s home and we captured Meara at just 7 days old. I told Jen & Patrick about the first year of life thing I’ve done before and they were interested in having Meara captured this way. So the idea is I capture the first week, month 3, 6, 9 & the one year shots. So basically we do this every three months. Before this project started I already had a great relationship with both Jen & Patrick. Jen used to bring me coffee when she’d stop by and pickup random picture orders from their wedding. Over the past year and change I have to say how grateful I am of Jen & Patrick and all their business with us since 2005. Really guys, we both thank you so much! So the next 24 images are a study of the beautiful little Miss Meara Emalie so sit back and relax and have fun looking.

Enjoy, leave love,
JP

One of our iconic shots from Jen & Patrick’s 2005 wedding:

This is obviously my favorite image from week 1. She looks still but she was squirming all over when we were trying to capture this.

So small.

The photo shoot tired her out so I didn’t see her for 3 whole months!

We opted for months 3 & 6 in our studio since it was still cold outside… Look who’s holding her head up!

Just a favorite of mine from month 3.

This one just makes me smile. All little girls should be photographed in tutu’s.

Like I said before it was cold during month 3. We shot these late December.

Look who’s 6 months now… she’s now standing a little with some assistance.

The color and tones in this shot is just awesome. Might be my favorite from month 6.

The baby Ugs are classic though.

Mom & Dad…

This sessions is more like somewhere between months 10-11. We met up in the park.

Someones learned some new faces since last time!

I love this one a lot, as does Jen & Patrick.

So cute.

Who’s she more look like?

Every time she smelled that flower she made a funny face… She’s saying bye until the next shoot.

Look who’s excited to see me at just a little over 1 year!

This is one of my all time favs from the whole year.

Shooting her in the park in early October was just too easy.

I wont tell you what I stepped in while shooting these images but lets just say it was worth it for the shots that I got.

So stinking cute.

Isn’t her coat and hat just awesome against the fall foliage?

Until next time Meara Emily… see some more for year 2!
