carley & bobby: franklin plaza

Posted in: Weddings

November 3 2011

OK next up is Carley & Bobby’s wedding! Man oh man! SNOW in October? Word. Who would have thought we’d get snow on Saturday October 29? Not me! I hope this isn’t a sign of whats ahead for our long winter. Anyway we showed up at the hotel and there really wasn’t much talk at all about weather. Carley was as cool, calm and collect as they come. She was also looking fabulous thanks to Amy and Sue of Make Me Fabulous. She was ready to become Mrs Digeser! But first we headed outside across the street from the hotel and took some pics of Carley and her ladies. All the girls were so pretty and photogenic as were the flowers from Ambiance Florals and Events. Then it was off to St Thomas in Delmar for the ceremony. Bobby was a little antsy greeting almost every guest who showed up. Usually grooms chill in the back of the church but I think he was so excited for the wedding he couldn’t sit still. While the ceremony took place the snow began to start. After the ceremony I asked Carley and Bobby if they were cool shooting in the snow. Without skipping a beat they were like “yeah!”.  So we wrapped up the family photos in the church then headed to Troy.

Now we’re heading to Troy and on the way there I noticed what was large pretty snowflakes in Delmar began to change to more of a wet snow consistency. Whatever. We went for it. I think their limo driver thought we were all completely nuts. As did some of the residents on the street we were shooting on. One even let us use his foyer. What a nice guy huh? Hayden commented many times throughout the day how awesome Carley and Bobby were by never complaining at all about the weather. They took what mother nature gave them and embraced it. So what if the dress might have gotten wet? So what if it wasn’t a blue sky fall day? I think the images we got are way more interesting and romantic than the usual predictable stuff. This why I love what I do. You never know what your going to get and every wedding is different. After we got back and they all dried off I noticed the iconic alleyway at Franklin Plaza looked incredible so I asked Carley and Bobby for one more shot. I knew I would regret it if I didn’t so thank god we went back out. It’s hands down my favorite image from the day and pretty much sums it up for me. After that it was officially party time. Franklin Plaza served the food, Elite Sounds played the music and Hayden held down the Elario photo booth. Carley and Bobby, I can’t thank you enough for everything. You both rock for braving the elements! We really enjoyed working with you both! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Peace,
JP

We’ll set it off with some bling..

Carley, complete with her Mrs Digeser starter kit. ;)

Who doesn’t love being made fabulous? Sue put the finishing touches on our stunning bride.

Getting ready.. we all loved her gown..

I like this little smile given by Dad..

How many cans of that hairspray you think MMF goes through a year?

You look great  girl!

Hey ladies!

Working it in the freezing cold..

Is it me or do we get spoiled over here with these beautiful brides?

One more.. her blue eyes really pop here.

St Thomas Church..

Fellas..

I love this moment with Dad and Carley.. fixing her veil before they head down the aisle.

The happiness is awesome.

Mr & Mrs..

Mad props to you all for braving this wacky weather..

Halfway working this spot we had to move because the people came home and had groceries in their hands. Wups!!

I love all the images from this little series…

Now and fall in the same photo.. I just thought that was so cool.

The gentleman who lives in “185″ was awesome. He saw us out on the street getting drenched and let us use his foyer for a few images. People can be so nice!

I love this one..

Ah the color.. this one is another favorite of mine..

A little Elario configuration in the wet snow. Why not?

As I was taking this image a girl came up and snapped this. Then she told me she was a blog stalker and apparently a friend of mine on facebook too because within minutes a notification came on my phone and told me Jona tagged me in a photo with this caption “look who I found out playing in the snow! congrats to the beautiful bride and groom” Jona, thanks for snapping this and for following the blog! You rock! Ok can we just chuckle for a minute at Hayden’s get up? Nice Hayden!

The result..

As I mentioned in my write up. This image sums the day up for me. Carley and Bob were there to get married and nothing was going to stop them. They were oblivious to the weather.. I love this and thats why it was my facebook teaser.

One more…

The Franklin Plaza..

Entering the room!

First dance..

Partying like crazy!

Carley and her twin sister Marke

Oh you look familiar?

Funny..

SIP!!!!!

How cute are they?

Did Hayden tell you act like bunnies or something?

Yup, its official! Congrats guys!!

Loving this dress on this bride!! One of my favorites! And I couldn’t agree more with Mona — this bride and groom didn’t let the weather ruin their day, and embraced it! And from that, JEP gave them one of the best images on the blog this year! That shot of them in the alley, with the rain – what a memorable shot!! LOVE this blog post! :)

  2. Carley (11.11.11)

wow! thanks SO much JP! i love the moments with my dad and those alley shots…so glad you grabbed us to go back out! I knew a little rain/snow would totally be worth it with JP Elario as our photographer…nothing a little hair curler couldn’t fix!

the bridesmaids dresses are from Angela’s Bridal =)

thank you Make Me Fabulous and Angela’s Bridal…you guys are amazing!

  3. Girish (11.6.11)

    Fantastic ! work.

  4. Melissa F (11.5.11)

Absolutely beautiful. The outdoor shots are simply breathtaking!

  5. Mona (11.5.11)

    Wowwwwwwww! WOW!
Ok, Carley and Bobby… just… wow. I don’t know where to start. No wait, I do. Ok here goes:
My ltitle thing about weddings: It is NOT JUST THE WEDDING, it is what it means. You are getting married to your love, with all your closest friends and family there. It is a moving, amazing event to join families like this. Sometimes I feel like people forget this (not our elario brides of course)… but let’s just say, Carley and Bobby, the fact that you “get” this jumps off the screen. You don’t look one bit perturbed by the weather. That is awesome. Because you know why? Hurricane, early snow, whatever… the fact is, you two are married :) You two look so so into each other and full of love, the pictures capture this beautifully. Does the snow make for real pretty pictures? It absolutely does. But the fact that you two look so easy going about it – even better. These are beautiful, romantic, one of my faves.
And everyone, did you see her hair later? Did it look like she’d been rained/snowed on? not one bit. Amazing.

Details: I do love the one with all the colors. So so great. So many dimensions. LOVE the teaser. Love everything about this one. Carley you look beautiful, your girls look beautiful, the guys look sharp – bobby really looks so happy and excited (I especially love the one up at the aisle). Oh and your dad just taking in the vision of his daughter… so sweet.

Really, this has just a great feel overall. :) Can’t say enough. Congratulations on a beautiful day (I said it, it looked like a beautiful day) :)

JP – just so you know everytime you write “Hey ladies” as a caption, that Beastie Boys song goes through my head :)

  6. Jamie D (11.5.11)

These are awesome!! Those outside shots are stunning! :)

  7. Jamie B (11.4.11)

UM Dayum, JP. you knocked it outta the park here…wow…absolutely love the cake shot where the lights lead up to the cake in the back of the photo….and the bride and groom…stop finding models to shoot, will ya??? absolutely love the color scheme for this wedding-the bouquets–:swoon: the dad’s emotions are great, the happiness, love, fun of this couple and the whole day just emanates through the entire blog…another fabulous blog, JP!!!!!!

  8. Alayne (11.3.11)

OMG Carley, This is one of those posts that I keep going through again and again, because I can’t decide which ones I love more!! They are allllll so much fun!!! and you are just as cute and beautiful as Suzan and Amy kept telling me all this week!!!! Ok so JP I did the math… we have 10 stylists who go through a can of spray per wedding atleast. We do over 200 weddings per year… so that equals more than 2000 cans a year! Holy Cow!

  9. Hayden Yund (11.3.11)

What AWESOME photos! love all the shoutouts! thanks Joe! I was a big fan of their positive energy and love for eachother! Your photographs are so warm and romantic, you never let the cold show, not ONCE (and somehow never made fun of my stay warm get up!). Carley, you are just stunning, inside and out and Bob you may be one of the best hosts – you really did greet every single guest! I am so happy for you both!!!! Hope you are having a wonderful WARM honeymoon! xoxoxo

  10. Richard (11.3.11)

Beautiful photos!!! Love the snow shots!!

  11. Megan (11.3.11)

Beautiful Pictures, I would love to know where she got those bridesmaid dresses!

  12. Angela's Bridal (11.3.11)

Congrats Carley! You looked stunning! Here at Angela’s Bridal we are so proud & honored to have you as one of our brides!!

  13. Courtney (11.3.11)

Love the pics of the snow/rain. Big props to the B&G for braving the weather to let JP get those AWESOME pics!

  14. Kara (11.3.11)

Ok, these rainy/snowy 2011 weddings have been my favorites – hands down! The alley shots are freaking awesome. And Carley doesn’t have a single hair out of place?! Amazing!

  15. Jessica (11.3.11)

This is a wonderful blog JP. To what looks like an even more wonderful wedding! Snow?! What snow?! All I could check out was how beautiful and in love these 2 are! Congrats to them both!

tanya & dylan: hall of springs

Posted in: Weddings

November 2 2011

Last Friday I think it officially changed from fall to winter. Gosh it was pretty cold in the beginning of the day! Eventually it warmed up a little bit. Tanya, Dylan, their families and bridal party were all troopers though! Everyone braved the cold! We also had my good friend Jason Valentine on the Elario roster that day. Why? We’ll he shot a behind the scenes video!  It’s been too long so we decided it was time to have a fun day and share what its like behind the scenes of the images we create. Stay tuned for that!

Onto October 28, 2011. We set things off in the Gideon Putnam Hotel for our getting ready portion of the day as well as the ladies photos. Tanya was in the suite looking all types of beautiful just waiting to get into that gown. After a flower drop off by my lovely and talented wife Kris Ann of Fleurtacious Designs Tanya got dressed and we headed downstairs. Originally we had planned to do all the first look at the Gideon Putnam but last minute decided to head to the Hall of Springs. Sometimes you never know what type of game day decision might happen. After Dylan got to see Tanya it was all fun from there. We got those family shots wrapped up with the quickness and were able to have a lot of time with our bride and groom.I know Al Woodard was getting some incredible stuff out there too! Then before I knew it the guests were starting to arrive and it was time to get married. The ceremony musician John Charles Cook grabbed his acoustic guitar and the processional began. After that it was party time! Hayden Yund set the Elario Photo Booth up and DJ Paul Malo pressed play. The party really was a super fun evening. Tanya and Dylan danced their butts off like ALL brides and grooms should! ;) It was a great day! I can’t thank you guys enough for choosing us to capture your day! I know I had a blast getting to know you guys and look forward to seeing you again sometime! Congrats!

Peace,
JP

Elegant, sophisticated, exquisite..these are the words that I have been hearing over and over from everyone since this beautiful wedding….and JP. Joe and all of your team , you captured it all. What a fabulous job. I cannot thank you enough for making this one of if not the most beautiful and memorable days of my life. You are just the best! Love you guys…Thanks so much.

  2. Cherie Cole (11.11.11)

“Elegant, sophisticated, exquisite….” these are all the words i have heard over and over again for the past few weeks to describe this beautiful wedding…and you captured it all. The natural inner and outer beauty of this couple was amazingly caught by your and your camera. Kudos to you and your team. Thanks again for sharing this incredible day with us. Love the shots of baby Kinsley too. What a gift you have!

  3. Mona (11.5.11)

Ah two other things – loved your accessories and loved the fleurs :)

  4. Mona (11.5.11)

Ok, I was love these shots for many reasons, but then I saw their BABY!!!! Tanya and Dylan – congrats on Kinsley!!! Beautiful!!!! And I haven’t read any other comments here right now but um, can we please discuss how you do NOT look like you just gave birth TWO MONTHS AGO! Are you serious?!?!?! No way! You all look so beautiful, and congrats on both wonderful, beautiful milestones!!! :)

    Onto the blog.

Hmmmm, of what does a cold fall day acting like winter at the Hall of Springs remind me? Poor cold bridesmaids trying to act like it’s summer? Bride probably chattering but immune to the cold nonetheless? Yes I understand cold days like this as we were married on such a day. But a beautiful day it was, and so was yours. You have some beautiful light popping through, and I love it. The config and the shot with you sitting on Dylan’s lap are both so sweet.

Nice seeing the HOS in the round for the ceremony too! It definitely changes up the look of things and makes for some great photos! Love it!!!!

Oh another thing – Tanya you look beautiful in your dress! Everyone looks great :) I love that your girls have different cuts of the dress, and I like that they are wearing short dresses. Big fan of short bridesmaid dresses versus long (not that I don’t like the long ones, just I lean towards the cocktail dress vs gown – except for the bride of course) :)

    Congrats again! :)

  5. Allie (11.3.11)

The pics are dynamite! Tanya, you look exquisite; Dylan, GQ gorgeous and Kinsley should be on the cover of a baby magazine. It was so nice to see a bride and groom have so much fun at their own wedding. You guys did a fabulous job. The setting and lighting were just beautiful and the food was scrumptious. Thank you for the honor of sharing in your most special day.

natalia & carlos: hall of springs

October 20 2011

Wow! Wedding 3 of 3 this past weekend was off the damn chain. Seriously. Now, normally we don’t take three weddings in a weekend and when wedding coordinator Katie O’ came to me we already had Friday and Saturday booked. I honestly said no we’re not open however Katie knew we were actually open, was persistent and told me that the couple loved our work and wanted to have us. How could I say no? Really, I’m so glad we decided not to sit on the couch on Sunday October 16th 2011 but more so that Natalia and Carlos chose us! So without further ado lets get into this beautiful day.

It’s always nice showing up to a hotel and seeing Katie O’ on site and it’s even better when she hands me two 4 packs of Red Bull. Now, I didn’t go thru them all. Why? Well, there was no need for that because the energy was there and never fell off all day! So you know, by energy I mean Natalia, Carlos, their families and bridal party were there. They were very much there and ready to celebrate these two high school sweethearts marriage. The day was great. From the moment Natalia put on that gown heads were turning for obvious reasons, she killed it. Carlos not looking too shabby either, rocking a hand tied bow tie. Their first look went down and it was great. Carlos while being roused by his boys not to cry totally shed a tear or two. Then after the family and bridal party photos it was time to do what I love to do, capture the bride and groom. I’m pumped with the stuff I got and I really hard a hard time narrowing down favorites for this blog which is why its a long one. Now its ceremony time and the space looked great. It was decorated by Anthology Studio and I loved all the candles. There was a lot of love in the room and the ceremony was just perfect and unique. Now onto the party.. WOW. Seriously from the moment it started it didn’t stop. They entreated the room to some of the best drums and percussion I’ve heard. Thats how you set it off! Then the party was handed to DJ Kenny Valdez. I have to give props to this DJ, aside from the live mixes that actually made me put the camera down and dance for a minute the setup was tight and looked awesome. The dance floor was packed and so was the Elario Photo Booth! Mad props to all involved on this one, you all rocked it. Thanks to Katie O’ for coordinating the day. I love coordinators and wish all my clients would use them!! Natalia and Carlos, thank you guys so much! I could not be happier with your images and I have confidence you’ll feel the same. I got mad love for you both! I’m not sure if you’re honeymooning or not but I hope this blog reaches you guys!

Peace,
JP

Mrs Cruz (to be), your dress is ready..

As you can see all loved seeing this stunning bride.

The fella’s hung out downstairs with their cigars and waiting for the first look.

Carlos, looking great!

I love this little first look series..

so sweet.

Everyone enjoyed watching the first look!

Do your thang Natalia.

Too much beauty in one photo..

The image on the let was the first image I took of Natalia alone. Lets just say she didn’t need to warm up.

Incredible.

One more..

Oh hey there Katie O’! All brides should have a wedding coordinator… you’ll thank me later. ;)

A bunch of good looking people right here. I especially like the two kids on the left.. They seemed to really like each other.. ;)

For the photogs… Nothing like the 135mm

or a 24mm 1.4L.. sorry to get all techie on you! I do love this image though.

Ah this is why you get married in October.

I like the next few with the interior of the Hall of Springs washed in color.

Yup..

It kept getting easier.

Natalia, you be killin em’

I freaking love this. This almost was my facebook teaser…

until I took this one.. I love it. 25 comments, 70 likes.. I think I picked the right teaser (brushes shoulder off)

One more from this spot..

Time for a ceremony..

Here she comes!

I love the reactions from the bridesmaids..

Caught!! Little man was caught sleeping and almost missed walking his flower girl down the aisle.

Mr & Mrs..

Congrats!

An Elario configuration..

Their happiness was so fun to capture.

another “this is why you get married in October” image.

A couple fun props.

Another favorite of mine..

The Hall of Springs. (see the dj’s setup? tight)

Time to party.

First dance..

Cheers!

Packed floor and not only that but everyone was SO close to each other. I had to dance my way into this photo.

Show offs.. I wish I could move like you.

Oh yeah! The Elario Photo Booth was in the house!

This not yet released gold from drop it MODERN is beginning to be one of my most popular drops (I hope they don’t want it back!)

Fellas.

Ladies!

Yeah Grandma, do your thang!

#blogstalkers

The dude with the mic is obviously living his dream.

Congrats to you both!!!

With a bride this gorgeous your job was easy ;) Love all the emotion in the first looks.
    Congrats to the happy couple!

  3. Elaine (10.24.11)

What a beautiful couple!!! The black and white image of their first look – the groom’s face…it’s an amazing image! Natalia is a stunning bride – she is so photogenic! And her dress, it fit her so beautifully! I always love the color of the leaves in the fall, but my favorite image from this blog is the one with the pine tree needles. Another favorite is the black and white one of them leaning against the column. Oh, and of course, the fb teaser of them at the fountain! Too many favorites in this one! :) Love the gold photobooth too. Grandma was working it!! :) Congrats to Natalia and Carlos!!

  4. Mona (10.24.11)

The first thing I thought when I looked at Natalia here is “WOW”. I mean, THAT is a woman who pulls off that perfect low-ish bun beautifully. So elegant, and such a stunning gal! You can tell she’s had some practice posing, just perfectly so :) Seriously, you look absolutely breathtaking. And Carlos is all about her, and vice versa.
LOVE the first look. Always love first looks. I love the hall of springs, and I love fall weddings. This just combines lots of my wedding loves. :) Ahhhh. Ok. :)

So again just goes to show you how one venue can look so different from one event to the next. So impressed with all these B&G do to transform a room.

Love the second shot on the bench, and of course the shots by the fountain – I love the playfulness of the second one, and also the one with the leaves where she looks like she is cracking up. :) Great stuff. Oooh. and the SHADOW toast? SO COOL. Very different. :)
Yes I’m all over the place on this one. To finish off, the DIM background is BLINGING! Very shiny, very cool. I’m sure there will be plenty of requests for that.

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Cruz!!!!! :)

October 19 2011

October 0 /  Jp 1.. Seriously I’m on it! I’m kicking Octobers butt, no stopping. Eh eh.. I must say I’m happy to share Natalia #1’s wedding with you this weekend. What are the odd’s I get two Natalia’s in the same weekend? Anyway like I said, it’s the first Natalia’s (& John’s) blog today so sit back, relax and enjoy what I have for you! Love this couple…

The funniest thing in the world happened on Saturday October 15th 2011, we arrived at the hotel and Natalia was fully dressed! I was like “oh you’re dressed?” She said “well, yeah we were doing really good on time.” All I could do was laugh. Then I said “OK, well at least give me your shoes so I can photograph them.” Then she took the dress off (no not in front of us) and literately got back in it. We tried to shoot it hanging but the hanger straps were cut out. Anyway, what does that tell me? Well, it told me Natalia was the most excited bride of all time. That held true all damn day! All she did was smile. After Natalia got dressed for the second time we headed out onto broadway to photograph her and the ladies. Then it was off to Siena College where the love birds met. It was also the spot where they’d tie the knot in front of a packed full Chapel. Not only was Natalia all smiles, the same rang true for Johnny boy, he was living it up.  It was great to see a past Elario b&g, a future b&g and a couple other couples who need to get on it already (*cough*  Carl, *cough* Andrew, your ladies are dying to be Elario brides, they told me so). Once the knot was tied, we had a rainy drive up the north way to Saratoga National Golf Club. Thankfully when we arrived at Saratoga National for the 9th and final time for 2011 the rain stopped. We banged out a quick bridal party shot and then I took Natalia and John onto the course. I love what we got and owe mother nature a thank you card for not raining on us! Then it was party time. DJ Scott Hemming did his damn thang all night. The dance floor was PACKED! Seriously more people danced at this wedding than any other SNGC wedding in 2011. Thats how Siena rolls though, they proved that to me in September. Natalia and John, thank you. Thanks for having us at the big day. Thanks for the shout out on the Fly morning rush the week of your wedding too! It’s been a freaking blast working with you two. What a fun day!!!! Congrats! I know Mexico has the internet so enjoy this blog!!

Peace,
JP

We’ll set it off with one of my favorites from their beautiful engagement session.

The shoes..

John’s titanium ring was as light as a feather, pretty cool.

Natalia gets dressed, take two.

Stopping traffic on broadway like what!

Again, with a name like Natalia you have to know how to work it..

and that she did..

Loving the veil.

The fellas had to fight off all the college girls driving by hollering at them.. true story.

a nice moment with Natalia and Dad (& the limo driver.. dang can’t they give them some space?, thats a blog post for the off season)

John, all smiles.

Stunning!! Not every bride can pull off a birdcage, but Natalia pulls it off beautifully!! The color of the leaves — gorgeous!! And that wooden bridge at Saratoga National… every time I see it on this blog, I wish I got married there! I love it!! The black and white forehead kiss image — no words are needed. It’s my favorite!!! So beautiful. Congrats to Natalia & John — I blog stalked your engagement shoot, and it was awesome, so I had no doubt your wedding blog would be amazing too!! :)

  2. Mona (10.23.11)

Oooooooh loved your e-session and love this!

We all know I skip around, so I’m starting with the dress – I love that you added a little belt to bring her (the dress, yes I’m referring to it as a “her”) into the evening. Nice touch!!! So, can we just say how adorable are you for being TOTALLY ready and so enthusiastic. Adorable. Everyone should be so on time and organized huh Big Joe and JP? :)

So I LOVE the shot with the green grassy mound and bright blue sky – ohhhh so purty (the one just after the bridge). ALl the outdoor shots are great. The “lack thereof” color one, you’re right – the b&g just stand out so much from it. Very cool contrast.

ANd um, LOVE the moving action shots. :) Just saying. Beautiful beautiful wedding. Congratulations guys!!!!!!

Natalia you totally rocked that bird cage – LOVE IT. I love the shot of Natalia and her dad walking in and Natalia is just looking at her groom- priceless.
