wow, 5 years of blogging

Posted in: News, Random

October 23 2011

Today marks the beginning of my 6th year of blogging. Over the past 5 years I’ve blogged over 470 blog posts, received over 5000 comments and had just over 1.2 million viewers. I can’t believe it. My father always says “you’ve created a monster” and I guess I have. Shooting is fun and easy to me but the hardest thing I do is blog. Any photographer will tell you that. Blogging takes mad time and effort, so when I click “publish” and the comments come in it means a lot because it shows me that you all appreciate my hard work. I’m so grateful that so many of you follow my blog. Whether you’re a bride/groom to be, a parent, a past bride/groom or a photographer, I love you all and thank you for the years of support. I have no plans on stopping either. Also, I know I owe you all some video blogs too as it’s been way too long. Don’t worry we got something cooking. But again, thank you all for blog stalking!

Peace,
JP

Did you think I wouldn’t toss an image of my French Bulldog Lexie in? She sits in this window in my office while I blog. If you drive by and see her you better honk because when a horn honks she gets a treat, so it’s like you giving her a treat. ;)

Ok one more.. I call this “the yawn”

February 15 2011

As we all know, when I blog I tend to blog a lot of images. Sometimes I want to blog more or there are images that I missed. You know, images that should have made the blog but didn’t at the time for whatever reason. I did this last year and it was a fun blog post. Since we had a lot of awesome images happening in 2010 I knew this would be a long post! So sit back and relax.

Peace,
JP

So many good moments at Anjella & Sarmad’s wedding.. I love the laughter in this image.

I always love moments like this with brides and their fathers…

Jamel was getting down like it was no ones bizzznazz

The famous “Mona” and yours truly at her brothers wedding..

After the firework spectacular Peter and Connie stoled the show and tore it up on the stage..

At Danielle and Neal’s wedding.. this concertgoer insisted Neal do a celebratory shot with him. Really, this guy would not take no for an answer.

This fall I was lucky enough to photograph the Dave Matthews Band.. This was a blog post that got crazy attention.

Sofia was done with me at this point of the shoot…

Another little gem from Edda and Mikes engagement session..

The corn was a big hit at Elaine & Dales summer engagement session..

Elaine and Dale: Oct 30, 2010… Dale asked for a pic with skelly..

Now something a little more colorful and lively!

Loving this color pallet at Elisabeth (with an S) and Jon’s engagement session..

Months later… up in Lake George.

Elizabeth (with a Z) and Adam’s Brooklyn Bride Engagement session was so much fun! I love this lens flare

Weeks later at their wedding.. The ladies thought they’d be funny..

Emily was just too easy to photograph…

I don’t often post cake shots.. But this one I like. I like it because the caterer brought the cake out to the center of the floor.. Tip for Casino b&g’s. This looks good!

On cloud nine! Just getting engaged and I was there to capture it all..

How cute is this little man?

Just in time for baseball season.. Hope he’s a Yankee fan!

Jamie and Chris.. will tie the knot in 5 short weeks from now.

No shortage of good images at Jamie and Eamon’s wedding. I really love this one. So classic.

Just a simple b&w I happen to like from Jessica & Jason’s e shoot.. getting married 9/10/11

Jessica’s so carefree and relaxed.. what a fun subject.

She even made Jeff throw leaves at their wedding..

Jessica and Phil… I LOVE this image.

Jessica and her ladies.. a lot of ladies..

I photographed the famous wedding coordinator Christine Wheat for some updated head shots..

Julia and Greg.. this was on of my favorite engagement sessions of 2010.. they’ll tie the knot on Aug 20 this year. Stay tuned..

Justin-a-pumpkin

I don’t know why this didn’t make the blog from Kara & Paul’s wedding. Can you tell it was like 90 degrees?

Kara.. so many nice shots of her..

Kate and her girls.. killing it for the camera.

I’m on a boat! Look at Kate’s sister standing.. what a nut. No thank you!

Fact: Kate and Alex’s friends call them Barbi & Ken lol.. no really though I love this image.

I’ve show the famous rain shot so many times I thought I’d pull one slightly different and in b&w..

Months later these two got married.. I like the sky.

Such a sweet b&w from Sean and Kerstin’s wedding..

Who could forget Kristen and her boots… oh and Dan too.

Kristin and her girls were so much fun up in Lake Placid this summer..

Can we say awesome eyes? All around.. Kristina & Matt will tie the knot on 5/27/11

Lauren and Chris… Emma Willard is an awesome place to shoot.

Lauren.. so fun. What a beauty..

Every year I shoot a Christmas card for this family.. here is the front..

The inside.. 14 grandkids and counting..

Another color pallet to die for.. Maggie and Joe.

Months later at their wedding..

Marie and Chris.. 5/7/11…

Melanie & Chris’ airplanes session.. a fav of mine.. April 15, 2011

Melissa & Andrews Saratoga Race Track session got crazy attention. To wed 9/9/11

Just a beautiful portrait of these two.. 7/23/11

Natalie and Ryan.. and the blue light.

I shot the New York Players this summer..

Bonus points if you can tell me who’s wedding this guy was at..

A gem from Sheila and Aaron’s first look.. I love the girls watching on.

A pretty scene from a NYC engagement session with Suzanne & Brian.. 9/16/11

TIffany might say “this shot is coconuts” 6/25/11 I’m hearing rumors this wedding is going to be off the chain.

This Tiffany was always ready for the camera. So fun.

Mark was always posing and ready as well.. I love Tracey’s expression..

And well end with Val and Eric running for a warm spot..

  3. Liz (02.16.11)

thanks for this look back into 2010 but quite frankly what it did was bring on even more eagerness to see how some of these beautiful girls will look like as brides this 2011 :) can’t wait!

  4. Alicia (02.16.11)

Ha! This particular Beaker actually goes by the name Beakman! What a ham he is for the camera – fortunately he was having a good hair day!

Great post – it’s a Fun trip down memory lane for all of us who “stalked” you all year long!

  5. Elaine (02.16.11)

Ha! I love that you posted the picture of us with the skeleton! Too funny! :) I agree with Mona, the animated images are so fun! But honestly, all the images are great! Congrats on a great 2010, can’t wait to see what you guys do in 2011!!!

  6. Jamie (02.15.11)

hahah I said Beakman instead of Beaker, my bad. but i love the shot of the baby with the baseball, and the almost silhouette shot… and the b*ws… and the blue sky.. and the group shots… and that was a great Christmas card! :)

  7. Jamie (02.15.11)

GORGEOUS All… don’t know whose wedding Beakman attended… but wow. these shots are wonderful!!!!!!

  8. Joe Elario (02.15.11)

    Hey . . how about that b&w of Elaine & Dale .
Of course . . .the red “Saratoga Room ” door , so simple – yet powerful .

  9. emily (02.15.11)

    really cool post!!

  10. Mona (02.15.11)

Love all these!!! I can’t possibly pick out favorites from them!!!! So great to see more shots and revisit 2010 – I do of course like making the blog with our little silly shot :) Love the animated ones, and just love looking at all these beautiful brides and grooms (and those to-be). BTW. Tiffany, 6/25 is my birthday, so it will clearly be awesome. Just saying :)

Thanks for sharing these! BTW… I honestly don’t recall seeing Beaker in any of the blogs, so I’m going to go ahead and guess that only those who attended the wedding would know about that one? Cause I know Deah had MJ… but that was different. Hmmmm!!!

    Cool stuff :)

Was definitely looking forward to this one :) :) :) Yayyyy! You guys all look great.

  11. Dania Bagyi (02.15.11)

That babe in the pumpkin is just awesome….hat and all. Love it.

  12. Alex (02.15.11)

WOW! You have so many good shots this year! Obvioulsy I love the picture of the boat. It is on the wall at my house. How many of your own shots do you have framed at your house?

it’s about having fun

February 3 2011

For those who know me you know I tend not to take myself all that serious. Really, I’m a total goof at times. Weddings are a fun time right? Well sometimes I just can’t contain myself and I just bust a move. It’s typically at the reception when it’s been a long day. Sometime’s certain songs set me off or whatever. Personally, I think I like to preform for Cheryl & Amanda from CASL Productions. Thanks to them, we have this little compilation of me in “goof mode” from 2010.

Peace,
JP

Disclaimer: These are my goofy moves.. I swear I have rhythm when I try.

texas, a teaser, wppi & more

Posted in: News, Random, Weddings

January 20 2011

Yeehaw cowgirls & cowboys! I’m fresh off a trip to San Antonio Texas for Imaging USA which is one of the big photography trade shows (it moves every year too, next year New Orleans!). I was asked by my lab Millers Lab & mpix pro to speak at their trade show booth and their Luxe Lounge. If that wasn’t enough I was at the drop it MODERN booth too for photo booth tutorials. I met some fascinating people, hung with old friends and made many new friends. I want to thank the people who sat and listened to me for an hour multiple times. I’m honored and glad to have shared with you all. On my way out Tuesday I received a text from Southwest saying my flight was canceled (ice storm in Albany), gotta love technology right? Anyway this allowed for me to spend one more day/night and actually see San Antonio. All my time before that was spent at Imaging so I took a crumby flight cancelation and made the best of it.

Before heading to Texas we shot an awesome winter wedding with lots of snow! My intentions were to have blogged Pam & Adams wedding but loosing a whole day to traveling has made this difficult to get to. Here is a little teaser image from Saturdays wedding. I was stoked to have set off our 2011 wedding season with these guys! Make sure to check back soon to see their full post.

I don’t know if I have officially announced this yet but it’s pretty big news. I’ll be speaking at WPPI in Las Vegas this year. I have a platform class from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Tuesday February 22nd. I’ll be speaking about marketing and my Elario Photo Booth you can find out more here. I’d be totally honored if you photogs attending WPPI would come see me. My platform talk is sponsored by Millers Lab and drop it MODERN with giveaways from them as well. The catch is you gotta stay and listen to me ;) I’ll also be speaking at Millers & mpix pro’s booth, drop it MODERN and I believe the Zenfolio booth too.

One last thing. Instagram. It’s an free iPhone app that makes sharing photos totally fun and I’m totally addicted to it. I’ll be instagraming all season like a crazy beast. So download it find me (jpelario) and share photos. It’s a cool app, no I’m not endorsing them I just love it. These are some snaps I instagram’d in San Antonio. The one of me in the bottom left was from my photographer friend Jewell of The Lovely Photo in Balitmore MD. Thanks for the snap Jewell!

One last thing.. to the brides (& grooms) to be. We’ll be at the Glen Sanders Bridal Show this Sunday. Sunday, Sunday, Sunday lol.. Come see us!

Thats all for now.

Peace,
JP
