christina & brian’s albany engagement session

Posted in: Engagements

November 10 2011

I’m amazed on how late the foliage has stuck around this year. When Brian contacted me about shooting his and Christina’s engagement session I thought that the color would be gone. Boy was I wrong! It must have something to do with all that whacky weather we’ve had this year. When planning this session Brian reached out to me and I had to say I wasn’t available due to a super busy October. Boy he was persistent! They were only in town for a short while and tried so many ways to get me to shoot this. I even got a message from a mutual friend on facebook to see if I can find an open spot. Brian and Christina, you owe Peter a drink! Anyway after Peter’s email, I had October 31st open so that ended up being the day! Thank god it was nice out because I really didn’t have any other open spots! If it was going to rain, I would have shot this in the rain. I must say I had a great time photographing these two. It’s a damn shame I won’t be shooting their California wedding next July :( but at least I was able to capture these for them! If you guys change you date let me know ;) Seriously, thank you both for choosing me for this session. Congrats on the bling and upcoming nuptials next summer!!

Peace,
JP

Meet Christina and Brian..

The color was awesome!

I still can’t get over the color in late October!

When I pulled into Washington Park and saw this floor of yellow I knew this would be a great spot..

so we hangout there for a little bit..

I like this one..

The Elario configuration looking good!

Christina’s hair and makeup looking NICE by Polina

I liked this spot too..

and this one…

Ok one more in the classic Washington Park path… ps.. Can the city of Albany loose the bright blue trash cans?

Outfit #2… can’t go wrong in red..

Albany is full of AWESOME spots.. here’s a new one for you..

So pretty..

That red dress screams!

My favorite from the whole session..

I love this one too.. I’ve been shooting at this spot for many years, I just love this vantage point..

ok.. I’m jealous I’m not shooting your wedding :(

Another classic Albany location..

we’ll end with my token “bling shot”

Ok one more bling shot because this one makes me laugh.

and of course the turnaround.. Thanks again and congrats to you both!!

AWESOME Pics….look like the pictures you see in a Magazine advertising a lovers vacation destination. I got an error on the registery…I’ll try again later. Good choice on the Wiens. I hope to meet this gorgegous gal of your before you leave us Brian.

  2. Mona (11.29.11)

Sigh, I am so behind, but loving these. WOW! I mean, the COLOR!!!!! These are the kind of shots I have been waiting for to say “I LOVE FALL __________” (Fill in the blank with e-sessions, weddings, whatever). I do love fall, and this year is so so so uncharacteristic for the foliage. Man, go figure. A hurricane will really throw things off huh? Ok to the shoot.
Sorry, I’m stuck on the color, it looks like early/mid october in these. Love them!
Christina and Brian, you guys look great. Christina your red dress is awesome on you! I love the shots, and some of the newer shots of Albany, and some of the old faves. Oh and your makeup looks amazing!!!!

I gotta say, I love the second bling shot. It’s like “Ummmm, yea!!!!” I really love the depth and color you got with these. It’s too bad we won’t be seeing your wedding shots on here guys but I am sure they will be beautiful as the two of you are a beautiful couple! Congratulations!!!!! :)

a windy engagement session with emily & mike

Posted in: Engagements

October 26 2011

Last week I caught up with this 2012 Elario bride and groom to be for a windy engagement session. Now, so you know we didn’t plan for the wind. It was one of those fall days where it just never stopped. Luckily downtown Albany has some spots I was able to tuck them into to avoid the wind! We set things off at The Brown Derby Restaurant, which is a great place to get your eat on. If you haven’t been you should try it. Anyway this is Emily and Mike’s spot. In fact they frequent there so much they made the coveted wall of fame with all the local famous peeps. I think Bobby Mallozzi should consider adding a JP Elario sketch, just saying. ;) After that we hit the mean streets of downtown Albany and did our thing. I will say I finally met a man more obsessed with his hair than I am. Mike, we’re a special breed! I really can’t wait to shoot their wedding in June of 2012. I know it will be a blast! So without further ado here is Emily and Mike’s photos…

Peace,
JP

Meet Emily and Mike (and The Brown Derby Restaurant)

My favorite thing about this restaurant is you don’t feel like you’re in Albany. Not that I’m knocking Albany, but you know what I’m saying!

I love this one..

I think the artist nailed it their sketches.. I want one!!

In Academy Park. (before all those tents showed up)

Fun.

I love these doors.

Let me just give massive props to the color coordinating here. Mike, I’m sure Emily picked your clothes out ;)

I love this one. The light, the color and of course the little exchange.

Mike “You want me to sit on the ground?” Me: “yeah!”

My facebook teaser.. Love this one too.

You’re beautiful Emily.

When I was taking this pic a random stranger walked by and said “I love your blog” If you’re reading this THANK YOU!

7 stories up.. I love this spot.

Ok so it was even more windy.. but we knew it would be! Mikes hair managed not to move too much.

This is one of my top 3 favorites from the whole session.

Nailing the Elario Configuration..

and my token “bling shot”

Lastly 3 wind blown peeps! I had a blast guys!

Sooo cute, Mike I think I did your makeup last year in Delmar for a commercial. You had jsut gotten out of the hospital back then. You look almost as fabulous as your super cute fiance. MMF’s super peppy Jessica is now turning into a super little makeup artist too! Love these!!

  2. Mike (10.28.11)

Great photos (mostly thanks to Emily) and a great day. Thanks, JP!

  3. Debbie D. (10.27.11)

Absolutely love all the pictures, you 2 look incredibly happy and Emily is totally beautiful. Mikey
    you look good, too.

  4. jamie (10.27.11)

JP, your hair didn’t move! lol
Mike and Emily are gorgeous, and looked wonderful windblown :) great session, love the dress, love their outfits for both session, the lighting, the locations, all fantabulous, JP!!! great job, As Usual :D

  5. Julia Camarco (10.26.11)

Emily, you look absolutely stunning! Congratulations on your engagement, and you are going to be such a beautiful bride!! JP, amazing as usual!

  6. Emily (10.26.11)

Yay! These are amazing! The more I look, the more I like! I honestly didn’t expect that these would have come out this great (Jp, I don’t think you truly emphasized how bad the wind was that night!). Thank you, again, for everything. We had such a great time that night! June 1st can’t come soon enough!

P.S. The belt is from Anthropologie. I LOVE elephants, which is why I carried on the theme in my second outfit! Custom made bracelet, by Fritze Jewelers (where my ring also came from)!

  7. Ellen (Em's Mom) (10.26.11)

Jp- absolutely gorgeous photos! You were really able to capture the joy and love between Em and Mike! These pictures really are amazing.

  8. ashley villanueva (10.26.11)

    awesome pics JP!!

  9. Mona (10.26.11)

What does Mona like? Fall weddings/e-sessions. We know this. But I also love ELEPHANTS. LOVE her elephant belt buckle. So so cute.

Ok you say it’s windy but I don’t really believe you. I see some wind, but I’m convinced it is just a wind machine. No? Really? Ok. Well you guys worked the wind very well in that case. Great to have them pictured at a place that means so much to them, and the shots around albany area are just great!!! I love the teaser, seriously looks like a wind tunnel shot :) And I like your fave where mike is just looking at the camera like “Yea that’s right” :)

To both you and Mike – nice work keeping the hair intact :) Emily, you look beautiful!!! Congrats to you both!!

  10. heather (10.26.11)

i love emily’s elephant belt buckle!

kacie & kevin’s engagement pics!

Posted in: Engagements

October 21 2011

What up peeps? There’s nothing like a Saratoga Springs engagement session. This one is classic Saratoga at it’s best. We decided to shoot in the park since their wedding next year will be at the Casino! The rest of the locations you really can’t go wrong with! I just love all the fall colors. I actually expected more color since this is “peak week” around here. Anyway, Kacie and Kevin are set to wed next June and I look forward to working with these guys again! Thanks to you both for choosing us! We’re going to have a blast next summer.

Peace,
JP

Awesome pics JP!! (as always!) I LOVE the one in front of Gaffney’s!! Love you Kacie! :)

  2. Rebecca (10.28.11)

Wow, amazing photos of an amazing couple! Kacie you look so beautiful and you and Kevin look so happy together! Your photographer did a great job of getting very natural looking shots! I love the bling shot and the pine needles one- almost as much as I love the “sneak peak” photo! Can’t wait to see the wedding pics!

  3. Elaine (10.24.11)

I agree with Mona — the peak fall colors may be going away, but who needs fall colors, when you have beautiful pine needles and a bride to be in two gorgeous pink outfits!! I love when a bride and groom do an engagement shoot before their wedding — then, when their wedding blog comes out, you feel like you sort of know them already (if you’re blog stalking, that is… which, if you’re not, you should be!!). Looking forward to the wedding blog! :)

  4. Mona (10.24.11)

Awwww I love Saratoga! And I love fall!!!! The peak may have flown by a little quicker what with how wet it’s been, but you still managed to get a lot of great color…. PLUS! The lovely bride to be was sporting lots of fun color as well :) Super cute in front of the mosaic. It will be awesome to see your wedding at the casino and compare some of the shots from the e-session :) Also love so many of the shots from the second outfit session. :) Yayyyy!!!

Great fall feel, very cute couple!!! :) Congrats guys!!!

  5. Brian Hope (10.23.11)

Absolutely fantastic work! Artistic and casual. Love them!

  6. Aunt randi (10.23.11)

Amazing work…..can’t wait to celebrate with this beautiful coulpe

  7. Bear (10.23.11)

Just beautiful….the classic Saratoga couple. I like the picture on the mosaic steps. You guys must have drank brawndo before the photo shoot because you are winning at being photographed. Go J-E-T-S, Jets Jets Jets.

  8. Lonnie B. (10.22.11)

Friend the pictures are absolutely amazing!!! You both look great!!

  15. Kacie (10.21.11)

ashlee & sean: historic barns engagement session

Posted in: Engagements

October 17 2011

Ah yeah! Back to the barns I went last week. Only this time it was with Ashlee and Sean! When Ashlee contacted me about their engagement session and said she wanted to shoot at The Historic Barns of Nipmoose, I was like sign me up! This place is so beautiful in the fall. Ok who’s up for a winter session there? Anyway, what a night we had too! It was just perfect for shooting. I had a real fun time capturing these guys. I know when we get to their October 6, 2012 wedding all we’ll do is laugh and have fun since thats all we did during this engagement session. So sit back and enjoy this one as blogtober continues!

Peace,
JP

Meet Ashlee and Sean..

This is place is STUNNING in the fall!

There are so many things I love about this image.. the texture is one of them.

This antique school bell is for good luck. Ashlee bought it right before she got her job teaching 1st grade!

Aspen grove + peak foliage = hotness.

Inside the corn crib the light was super duper cool.

My favorite from the casual set right here:

Oh go on, get yourself in an Elario configuration. All the cool kids are doing it ;)

Loving outfit #2..

a little bit of light.. ok blog stalkers. who does Ashlee look like resemble? Hint she’s an Elario bride who was married this year. ;)

There are so many great spots at this place. It never ends..

Oh hey there pretty lady..

What a backdrop!

A nice little shoulder kiss..

The corn crib!!

I love everything about this one..

And we’ll end with my token “bling shot”..

ok, one more.. the last image of me as a 29 year old.

Oh how do I love fall sessions? Let me count the ways… :) The foliage is just perfect right there, and the setting, again, amazing. The outfits are great choices (especially that little white dress), and the bell is a great little touch. :) Ashlee and Sean definitely have a great way with the camera and seem totally comfortable. No doubt their fall wedding will be awesome. Too many great shots to comment on – I love the texture, color and feel of this. Always rockin the e-sessions.
