alissa & shane: the hall of springs

Posted in: Weddings

October 23 2009

So yeah this is a late in the week blog post for you all but better late than never. For wedding number 2 of 3 this past weekend we had the honor of shooting Alissa & Shane’s Hall of Springs wedding. What a fun wedding this was too. I mean the bridal party alone were straight up a bunch of nuts. They were all out for one thing, a good time. As soon as we got to the hotel their wedding planner Katie O’Malley was on the scene making sure all went well. Here’s a note ladies, wedding planners are a good thing. I’ll tell you this till I’m blue in the face, they just make everyones job less stressful and keep you all on schedule with their cute little agenda sheets and clipboards. Anyway last we left off here on the blog with Alissa & Shane was their engagement session which I shot in Saratoga and on the beautiful Avenue of the Pines. So I thought where a better place to have them do their first look than in that very spot. As you’ll see from the images, it was just perfect. We first met up with the guys who were sipping on some yummy beer (sarcasm) and took some photos of them. Then Alissa arrived and they met on the yellow lines. How cool right? After that it was off to the hall for some more photos and oh yeah a wedding too. I just love shooting ceremonies inside the hall. Its such an amazing room. Seriously the guests jaws just drop when they enter, we see it happen every time. The decor and flowers were done by David and his staff from Renaissance Floral Design and the room looked great. A wedding needs video and thats where my man Al Woodard comes into play. This guy is doing some nutty stuff with wedding videos so check him out. As I mentioned before weddings should have wedding planners and the company on the scene was the popular Lisa Light of Destination Bride, nice seeing you Lisa. So again, this was another sweet wedding for the October archives and we thank Alissa & Shane for allowing us to do our thing and deliver some awesome photos.

Enjoy, leave love,
JP

Like I said yummy beer’s…. not! Where’s the Sam October?

I don’t know that beer must have had something in it.

The first look!

The color blows my mind!

An easy favorite right here!

Show me what ya got! Alissa is hilarious.

Ok a semi serious one.

Wow… right?

So pretty.

A throw back from this past July.

Love it!

A little romance…

I love when Alissa said “what about if I hop on his back?” I was like “yes, do it!” Obviously Alissa wasn’t worried about wrinkles and all that. Take notes ladies.

Haha!

More of that October color.

Booya! My fav on the day right here.

I like this. Shane that was awesome.

Doesn’t this room just look sick in a nice grainy b&w?

The room, details.

One of the groomsmen sang and played their first dance. He was really great too.

Hava nagila hava!

Ha!

blog turns 3 today!

Posted in: News, personal stuff

October 23 2009

Bloggin’ weddings got hot really in probably late 2007, it was this new awesome medium to share your most recent work as soon as you shot it. Back in the day on our old website we used to update images weekly anyway but there was no way of telling people there was new stuff out there. I used to put something like “new images on page 20 of our galleries!” but who knew how much traffic that received anyway. So as soon as I figured out all about bloggin, what a blog was and how to blog I never looked back. My father actually says “you’ve created a monster” and I totally did. It’s all about feeding that monster too because an idle blog is boring. I have to say I’m pretty proud of myself and this is a big accomplishment for me. It’s so unbelievably flattering that I have you all who “follow my blog”. Really. That means so much and I can’t thank you enough for showing up every week, looking for something new and of course “leaving love”. You guys wouldn’t believe the amount of traffic I get on here, its crazy so thank you for coming by. I’ll also say bloggin has forced us to step up our game on shooting day as well. Always thinking of new, crazy ideas to blog and let me tell you this off season I have tons of topics, rants, raves and ideas to blog about.

So today October 23 marks the 3rd year of the debut of our blog. As you’ll see from my very first post this blogs come a long way. Its funny too how I didn’t write all that much either back in the day. I was blog shy then but not so much anymore. And yes I know I make all kinds of grammar errors and mistakes too! It’s all about the photos ya’ll. So anyway I just wanted to share the blogs birthday with you all and say THANK YOU again for continuing to visit which forces us to raise the bar.

Since all blog posts need a photo enjoy this photo of our 9 week old French Bulldog “Lexie” yes, as in Rolex. Hey what can I say I dig a nice time piece.

Well, we all appreciate your hard work and making us all feel involved. Yahooooo!!! (2 more weeks! Just had to throw that in there. EXACTLY two weeks from now I should be about to walk down the aisle… woo!)

Love your blog – You and your Dad are so very talented! Can’t wait to meet Lexie – she is a cutie!

  13. Rae Barnes (10.23.09)

Happy Blog Birthday!!! It is so wild that such an important part of the business is not such an old idea. I remember my husband forcing me to blog about 3.5 years ago, and I told him… “no one wants to read what I have to say.” ;-) And, of course, when we got married 4 years ago, no one blogged, so we did not have a preview. My brides can’t live without one now!

  14. Sarah Chilson (10.23.09)

Congrats! And what an adorable puppy!!

sarah & ben: hall of springs

Posted in: Weddings

October 22 2009

Wow, what an awesome weekend. Can you believe it was suppose to rain/snow and it never did? All three of our weddings rocked too. So now I’m going to share the first of three weddings from this past weekend. This one features Sarah and Ben, you’ve seen these guys before on the blog since I shot their engagement shoot. Friday weddings in the fall are generally tricky if the couple doesn’t do a first look. Friday ceremonies usually start 5 or 6pm but this one was an early Friday ceremony at 2pm. I loved that this was an early wedding for a couple reasons. The main one being light… of course right? The other reason was I was home in time to watch the Yankee’s 4-1 victory over the Angels! Gotta love October. These guys tied the knot in the Delmar Reformed Church which we really enjoyed shooting at. The outside is so quaint and charming. After some rocking shots outside the church with some awesome fall colors we made a pit stop onto the Avenue of the Pines because that road is simply beautiful this time of year. Really though, it’s always a beautiful road but the fall just kicks it up a notch. Then it was party time and the New York Players took it from there. It was a great wedding to start the weekend with. By the way, ask us where we shot on Saturday. Thats right the Hall of Springs again so stay tuned for that post! We thank Sarah & Ben for having us and wish you both the very best.

Enjoy, leave love,
JP

How many wedding related events can you count?

I’ll always give props to the ever popular, highly in-demand hair and makeup of Alayne of Make Me Fabulous. Why? Because she’s ALWAYS on time and does a slamming job.

Sarah is so photogenic.

Love Dad seeing her for the first time.

The ladies with their cool dresses.

And some cool red heels.

The view from Sarah’s parents home is pretty sweet!

This ring shot was all too easy for me.

Bow ties are making a big comeback this season. I dig them.

Look at Sarah taking a deep breath.

A real moment that took place during their receiving line.

How classic?

For the photogs… a 50mm 1.2L is sweet.

But nothing beats my 200mm 1.8L… favorite shot of the day.

I love Sarah’s calm content look in this image.

Classic Saratoga.

Remember this?

Pretty sweet bridal party shot huh?

The Hall of Springs.

sneak peek of a sweet fall weekend

Posted in: Weddings

October 19 2009

Well thankfully we made it thru the whole weekend with no weather problems. Lets just say this past weekends forecast was looking pretty bad but for all three days but somehow the projected rain & snow never showed up. So three weddings later I’ll leave you with a sneak peak of the blogs that are to come. I don’t know when, I have lots to edit so just check back or check my twitter. All three weddings were blessed with some awesome fall color so here you go!

Later,
JP

On Friday Sarah & Ben tied the knot. I’m loving the color and shallow depth in this image!

On Saturday Alissa & Shane broke the glass under the chuppah but that was after their first look on the prettiest road in Saratoga Springs.

And on Sunday, Shawna & Michael exchanged some vows during their interfaith ceremony on a windy fall afternoon.
