wedding affair saratoga springs

January 29 2009

Just wanted to let you all know you can find us this Saturday January 31 at Well Wed’s, Wedding Affair in Saratoga Springs. Where in toga you might ask? Only my single favorite room of all time The Canfield Casino. We would love for you to stop by, introduce yourself or just say hi. Now this is not your standard bridal show, there is all kinds of stuff going on from pedicures to a fashion show and oh yeah a complimentary gift box which I’m told is jammed with goodies. The show starts at 3:00pm and goes until 7:00pm, it’s actually not that bad to be in Saratoga on a Saturday night, you should grab a bite with your fiancé’s or your parent’s or whoever your bringing with you when your done. This event does require tickets (online only) so click here to find out more.

Hope to see you there,
JP

best of: 2008 bride & groom’s part 1

January 26 2009

At some point during every wedding we shoot we get these types of photos. They don’t really have a name or category but we like to think of them as kind of the iconic shot from the day, the shot that makes the cover of your book, the shot that just wows people! In a perfect world we we usually get these shots under optimum conditions we always watch the light throughout the day, some couples even plan their wedding around these photos, especially fall couples. A lot of time mother nature dictates when we’re going to shoot them, the bottom line is we always get them. It’s that little five to ten minute window of time when it’s just the couple, Big Joe & myself. As you can see in the following images every single couple is relaxed and not posed, their being themselves. It’s what our styles all about. These photos for me are the most important shots of the day, because after all a wedding is about the two people getting married. So with this best of series I decided to hold off on the voting, I just want you enjoy the images.

Oh yeah, last weeks best of was a tie! So instead of going extra innings or overtime both Jessica & Alan - The ice storm & Heather & Giuseppe - Off the hook will be receiving a $30 credit with us.

These will start in chronological order, it’s interesting to watch the weather get warmer.

best of: the ring shot

Posted in: Best Of

January 19 2009

This is probably my favorite best of yet. With my 100mm macro lens in hand, I really enjoy hunting that best man down and asking him for the rings. It’s funny, without fail the best men generally seem nervous when I ask them for the rings. They carefully hand me the rings and watch me like a hawk as if I’m going to bolt with them. So best men of 2009 don’t worry, I’m just trying to do something creative with the rings. But seriously, I enjoy this part of the wedding day because I am always trying to push myself to come up with something different and unique to the couples day. Every wedding can be viewed if you simply click the name. You know the deal, now get your vote on!

The winner of last weeks best of is dunnn dah daaaaah!…”Giuseppe – at the church “, Congrats to you both, you’ve won a $30 print credit with us!

christina & claudio: hall of springs

January 15 2009

So I think we started 2009 off with a bang. This wedding is a perfect example of what winter weddings should be. Winter weddings are fun to shoot because of the snow and I love when the snow cooperates and comes at the right time. We had a pleasure working with Christina & Claudio. They are no strangers to us seeing that we’ve worked with this whole crew at different weddings millions of times. That’s what referrals are all about and we appreciate you all keeping us busy.

The day was really nice, Christina and Claudio decided they wanted to see each other before they walked down the aisle. I say this a lot but I’m a big fan of this. I don’t twist arm’s for it but always recommend seeing each other before the ceremony if it’s an option for your day. It’s a great idea for the short dark days during the wedding season. So we headed over the Avenue of the Pines, which looks spectacular 365 days a year if you ask me. It was quiet cold outside but if their game I’m game. I’ll do anything to give our clients good images. That’s just how I roll. The ceremony looked great and Experience and Creative Design did a nice job as well. The snow started around 7:30 and put no damper on this party. Our friend Music Man Mike Garrasi had the party locked down all night. It was nice setting 2009 off on a high note.

Peace,
JP

Great light in the hotel room.

Claudio gave Christina a nice card.

I love this shot of the guys.

Big Joe’s view of their first look.

& mine.

Brrrr

The 5D Mark II is awesome, especially with a 200 1.8 (sorry a little camera lingo for my photo readers)

The uplighting on the crystal trees was a nice touch.

Shot the first dance available light with the 200 1.8 on the 5D. Of course the videographer supplied enough light ;)

This one here’s real special. From the left, Big Joe (duh), Luigi & Jen (7/06), Claudio & Christina(1/09), Yours truly JP, Giuseppe & Heather(7/08) & upcoming bride & groom Mariesa & Mike (9/09). All clients all friends. Thanks guys.

And then it snowed…

love this one.
