This weekend we shot our second to last wedding of the 2008 season. It was a chilly day and the ceremony was a 5:30pm start time so daylight was limited but we took advantage of the available light from the holiday lights outside the mansion. The flowers looked great as usual when Kris Ann Blanchette of Fleurtacious Designs is designing them. This is a fun time of year to shoot weddings because there’s always extra light and fun things going on. Also people are usually in a festive mood, which makes for a great party and our friend Music Man Mike Garrasi made sure of that.
Thanks for letting us spend the day with you and congrats-
JP

For 25 years Albany Medical Center Foundation has been raising money for their children’s hospital with an event named Dancing in the Woods. This event always takes place the first Friday of December every year since 1983. Joe Elario Photography has been part of this event since the beginning. Four years ago big Joe shot his last one passing the baton off to me. For the last three years I’ve been shooting this party full swing with my own crew assisting me, however I’m no stranger to this event I think maybe one of the first times I helped out I was maybe 12 or 13 years old.
The theme of the party has always been pine trees and snow so I thought for the 25th I would go that direction only with an Elario twist. I setup a little studio and photograph couples all night long. It’s kind of like an adult prom photo but not posed corny. Usually the same people come up and get their picture taken every year and joke with me that they get to see themselves age. It’s a tradition to these partygoers to come by and smile for me. There are always new faces year after year as well. I’ve always enjoyed this shooting this event and thank everyone for coming to see me.
Anyway I shot a little time lapse for fun of Kris Ann & myself setting up my set this year. Thought it would be fun to share on the blog. I’m constantly thinking of things to blog. As I said I wanted to put an Elario twist on it so I got this sweet red seamless paper and used my wrap around lightning style just to give it a little edge. You’ll see the whole thing come together in under two minutes in the video below along with a few shots for fun, I just can’t stand blogging without showing something visual.
Also check back this week for the wedding we shot on Saturday-

We absolutely loved your vimeo!! Super job! Great seeing you and Kris Ann at the Dance and the Xmas Party!
I love photographing brand new babies. Tessa was no exception, she just laid there peacefully while I captured her at just 8 days old. There’s really nothing like shooting in natural light, when their this young I think its a must. She slept most of the time but when she finally opened her eyes it was worth the wait… scroll down and you’ll see why. I cant wait to design their birth announcements next.
Enjoy -

ps. Sofie is Tessa’s cousin. You remember Sofie right?
Like I said, when she opened her eyes, the light caught them just right.
Their frenchie Vinny, he’s just too cool I had to put one of him on here.
