michelle & josh: the sagamore

Posted in: Weddings

October 16 2008

This here is the third of three very awesome, very different and very fun weddings in a row. We both feel we started and ended this weekend on an extremely high note which we plan to carry right thru the rest of our remaining weddings.

Michelle & Josh’s wedding was as we expected, a beautiful day and a great party. The Sagamore has this thing about parties, the energy never really drops. Could it be the fact that people are out of town and staying over? Could it be it’s breath taking views and that carefree feeling you get once you see that lake? I’m pretty sure its all of that. I got to give some serious props to Michelle and Josh for putting this whole thing together in something less than 3 months, kudos to you guys. When Michelle first called back in late July I was so happy to tell her we were available for their day, Columbus Day weekend is always the busiest for weddings.

Lake George was really as nice as we’ve ever seen it in October and we would know, this is the third year in a row we’ve spent at The Sagamore on this exact weekend (check the archives if you don’t believe me ;) , the third times really a charm. The ceremony was really perfect, the light, the color and no wind. The party from the moment Michelle and Josh entered the Shelving Rock Terrace was on a high note and DJ Jeffrey Scott kept it going into the night. Did I mention we worked along side our pal Al Woodard again? That’s two in a row, I know Al got some sweet footage this weekend.

There was something else special about October 12, 2008, it was my birthday and I couldn’t have had a cooler couple to spend it with. Michelle & Josh, congrats to you both and thanks for choosing us to capture your day.

Peace, leave love-
JP

I was so excited when I found out local musician Rich Ortiz was going to be playing their ceremony and cocktail hour, this dude rocks. iTunes link.

My view…

I love when I can break out the 200mm 1.8L and hand hold it…

The way it throws things out of focus is just beautiful.

Go ahead tell me its out of focus and blown out. I still love it.

Lisa & John had such a nice day for their wedding. It really was exceptional weather for mid October and having the whole thing outdoors. This wedding was put together by Lisa Light CEO of Destination Bride & Katie O’Malley her “VP of Sparkle & Romance”. These two did a fantastic job with everything.

The ceremony site looked awesome. The pool, where they exchanged vows was covered in lucite. Who would have thought you could find use for an outdoor pool in upstate NY in October? The florals and decor were designed by Renaissance Floral Design and looked very cool in this setting. The fine staff at Glen Sanders (who else?) were on site as well, these guys are always top notch. Al Woodard shot their video, we had the pleasure of his company on Sundays wedding as well, stay tuned for that one.

Congrats to Lisa & John, it was a pleasure working with you both.

erika & tom: hall of springs

Posted in: Weddings

October 15 2008

Erika & Tom may look familiar to you, their faces debuted on the blog back in November of 2007 from one of our more rememberable and unique engagement shoots, click here if not. Keeping that engagement shoot in mind I decided to blog their images with a more vintage look and feel since that was the theme of their wedding, I’m always trying to tie things together. I remember when Erika and Tom first met with us about their wedding, sitting in my office we knew this was going to be a more unique and fun wedding to capture.

The day was as nice as October can be, the whole weekend was for that matter. The photos at Erika’s grandmothers home were perfect. The ceremony was intimate, a touch of personalized vows is always nice. On Friday when Erika mentioned she wanted to go around back to the cemetery I thought well this is a first and at the same time was like totally into it. We’re always down to step out of the box and have fun with new and different settings or ideas, it keeps us creatively on our toes. Besides the cemetery or graveyard says October as well as some simple pumpkins do.

Enjoy these photos, leave love, check back tomorrow for another blog-

Erika’s mother asked Big Joe to take this shot, the same photo, same spot on her wedding day.
