kerry & geoff: wolferts roost

September 29 2008

I’m at that point in life where people I knew from the high school years are all either engaged or getting married. Kerry was one of those people from that era. I have to say it’s very special to spend their wedding days with them. It’s also great to see people years later. This season so far we have shot at least 6 weddings with that same theme.

So this past Saturday we were suppose to have a 90% chance of rain, but the rain never came. It actually ended up being a sweet weekend. Driving to and from St Mary’s Church in Amsterdam, I noticed the tree’s beginning to yellow up and that late fall light trying it’s hardest to peek thru the clouds. I came to the conclusion, it’s officially fall. That being said the color and floral scheme of this wedding was perfectly appropriate, a nice job by Renaissance Floral Design. I also have to give some props to Christine A. Wheat Special Events Firm for keeping things organized thru out the day as well. The party was fun, the food was yummy and Kerry and Geoff were simply a wonderful couple. It was great seeing everyone.

Congrats guys, best of luck-
JP

This moment is always my favorite to shoot, Dad making sure Kerry’s veil is perfect.

sandra & rob: hall of springs

September 26 2008

What a great weekend… Sandra & Rob’s wedding was seriously a good time. We really had a blast shooting this one. My father & I have known Rob & his family forever. Have you heard of Cardona’s Market in Albany? Well thats Rob & his families market, great Italian imports.

This was another stupendous September day, from the temperature to the lighting, I mean really outstanding. When we arrived to the hotel everyone was looking beautiful and ready to take some photos and that rhythm never stopped. Sandra was a very organized bride, everyone was where they needed to be and when they needed to be. When you have all that going on its a good thing. I told Sandra she should do some event planning on the side. We got all the photos done ahead of time which is a great idea to do in the fall. Its also nice to capture Sandra and Rob seeing each other for the first time as you will see in the photos below.

The ceremony was nice, a remembrance candle was light by Rob in the beginning of the ceremony to not only remember grandparents of the bride and groom but most recently the passing of Rob’s mother Lisa, I’m sure Rob’s mother had something to do with the beautiful day they were blessed with.

The reception, as excepted was wonderful. Glen Sanders Catering continues to impress us at every event we do and believe me when I tell you they dominate our wedding/event calendar every season. The food was superb, the desert room was off the hook and just when you thought it was over Sandra & Rob surprised their guests with a 200 lb slow cooked pig at the end of the night for some pulled pork sandwiches. As always a party needs entertainment which DJ Paul Malo was there to do, it was great seeing him as well. Did I mention it was our second day in a row with our good friend videographer Al Woodard? It’s a treat to spend two days shooting beside this dude. Sandra & Rob, thanks for having us and thank you for the gift baskets, too kind.

As always, enjoy, comment and spread the word-
JP

It’s great when we get to shoot couples seeing each other for the first time.

I don’t think they get more authentic than this. Sandra’s grandmother was a lovely woman.

September 24 2008

We’ve been looking forward to this wedding all season. The 20th was the most requested date in September and we were glad to have spent it with Kathleen & Kevin. These guys were a super fun couple and a joy to be around all day. A real nice tribute to Kathleen’s late mother was the fact that she wore her wedding dress, it was very special and Kathleen looked beautiful in it.

I have to say their mass at St. Mary’s Church was really something special. It was special because Kathleen’s brother, Father Tony was the celebrant. When we arrived at St. Mary’s Father Tony was on the ball, making sure everything was just perfect for Kathleen & Kevin (I think he was a little nervous too… ssshh!). But seriously he did an outstanding job on the mass and the homily as I expected he would.

On our way up to the Saratoga we stopped off at the Alfred E. Smith Building for some special shots as a tribute to Kathleen’s late father, this is the building is where he used to work. Then it was off to the Canfield Casino which was beautifully decorated by my fiance Kris Ann Blanchette owner of Fleurtacious Designs. The party was fun and Lily and the Rose catering did not disappoint. Great seeing my man Al Woodard at this wedding too!

Thanks for the gift basket guys, that was too kind!

the front door opened up and 3 of these guys came flying in….

I love this shot just minutes before Kathleen walked down the aisle.

Look at Father Tony’s expression.

Now look at Kevin’s expression.

Incase Kathleen’s brother wasn’t enough, he brought his boys.

Always nice to see one of our favorite past bride & grooms, Sara & Ross. 4 years strong.

tracy & matt: engagement shoot

Posted in: Engagements

September 22 2008

In the midst of probably our busiest run of the year I had time last Friday to sneak in an engagement shoot with Tracy & Matt who’s August 2009 wedding I’m looking forward to shooting. I absolutely love shooting engagement shoots, I know I’ve said it before but its really a great chance to get to know our clients and it makes their wedding day that much more fun and comfortable because we now all know one another. The fall is among us and now is the time for engagement shoots. It’s a perfect time of year to take advantage of the fall light and colors. We have an extremely busy fall so if any of you are interested holler at me soon.

This past weekend was another busy one for us, we had two great weddings both in Saratoga Springs. Please make sure to check back this week to see what we came up with.
