lily’s growing up

Posted in: Kids / Family

September 1 2010

I’m sure all my faithful blog stalkers remember Lily right? I photographed her back in May at just 8 days old. She’s now just under 4 months and since Stephanie and Dan were so happy with her newborn photos they wanted to finish her first year with me! Flattered I am. I say it over and over but shooting more than once for a client is the ultimate compliment. I’m excited we have two more sessions down the road with this family. I’m also excited because Stephanie is great with ideas and props. She brought these awesome suitcases other props. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for the next two sessions. Big thanks to TR Laz for letting me shoot on his property for this one. I look forward to coming back again and shooting maybe an engagement session next time. Now its time for me to shut up and slap some images into this post. Great seeing you guys again! Lets get into it!

Peace,
JP

Hello Lily! Whatcha doing? Oh just chilling on some suitcases? Cool..

There’s a smirk for you!

How adorable is she? I love her flower headband.

Here’s the family! How great is that barn?

Stephanie brought along this bucket. It worked great for having her sit upright at her age without the ugliness of that bumbo thing.

She’s saying “ok get me outa this bucket please.”

Look at her. Come on.. she’s just beautiful.

I love this shot of the two girls.

These are equally as great!

This location has so many opportunities!

Oh the grandparents showed up for a shot too. Stephanie’s father is just crazy about his little granddaughter.

and thats it! We’ll see you soon Lily B!

elizabeth & adam: tappan hill mansion

Posted in: Weddings

August 30 2010

Road trip! Not really, although on Saturday August 21, 2010 I found myself driving south to White Plains with videographer Al Woodard and of course Big Joe. My SUV was jam packed with all types of gear and since I drove please know there was no Elvis on this road trip. Anyway as we pulled up The Ritz Carlton in White Plains I was amused with how many weddings were going on. I think I counted 3 brides exiting the building. Then we got to see our bride Elizabeth! We all remember her right? Her suite was full of good energy and happy people. Aside from that they had the music going. I know I’ve said it before but I think this is a must in any bridal preparation room, even if they’re playing Mr Roboto. Running right on time Libby hopped into her gown and it was back onto 287N to head to Tappan HIll Mansion. Apparently Mark Twain bought this mansion for his daughter back in 1902 but I guess she never moved in (hope I’m getting this right). Anyway we got a head start to the venue so we could scope out the grounds. Before I knew it Libby and her father were rolling up in a gorgeous white Rolls. We shot some quick portraits and then Adam and the boys were on site and it was time for a first look. I’m in love with all the images from their first look too. It was a fun one to shoot. So now the clock is ticking and we need to shoot our butts off before the first bus load of guests arrive. Boy did that time fly too! We were shooting portraits of Libby and Adam and then boom they had to go hide out because it was time to let the guests in. On the planning ball was Elyssa and the staff from A Most Creative Affair. Wedding planners rock! Their ceremony was beautiful with a backdrop of the Hudson River. After a couple “I do’s”, some rings and a petal exit I found myself shooting their reception room. From that point on the party was in the hands of the fantastic staff at Tappan Hill and their band. I speak for both Big Joe and Al when I say we had a fun time shooting this one. Libby and Adam are both a wonderful couple and we wish them the very best! We cant say thank you enough for trusting us with the coverage of your big day! Hope you’re enjoying your honeymoon!

Peace,
JP

We’re here!

I couldn’t resist.

I guess Adam is quite the golfer so this one’s for him!

How’s this for a splash of color? I love when the shoes are fun!

A typical bridal suite.

Oh hey Libby!

It’s just too easy sometimes…

she was such a happy bride!

Tappan Hill.

I love this shot of Libby and Dad. I can’t tell who was happier.

Wasup ladies?

I love this one.

Waiting patiently for her groom.

Here he comes..

How great is this?

I love snippets like this of a first look.

The boys looking sharp in nice fitting tuxedo’s and hand tied bow ties. This is a timeless look fellas!

Back to our beautiful bride.

She know’s how to work the camera.

Love. This. Car.

Classic.

My facebook teaser.

The entrance way is simply stunning.

Right?

This is one of my #1’s from their day.

Back outside.

A sweet little moment.

I think I should print this one for the wall.

Great moment!

Mr & Mrs..

It’s not official until New York State says so! I love this image too!

The room.. I love the lighting on the flowers it makes them pop right out.

Party time!

Eat, drink and be merry!

and they danced away….

  3. sharon (08.31.10)

these are beautiful!!!!!! what a gorgeous bride!

  4. Melanie (08.30.10)

Amazing….. and so fast! it was a perfect day, a perfect location, and a perfect couple… We Love You Libs & Ads!! XoXo

  5. Matthew Gaines (08.30.10)

Stunning work. Very very very well done!

  6. Nichole Gialanella (08.30.10)

I have to comment because I LOVE the name. Our little Elisabeth is Libby (or as she calls herself Bibby) too and it is not very often that you hear that! The pictures are terriffic. The images in the room witht the black & white tile floor and her gown flowing remind me of the big Joe classic of a father and daughter that made me fall in love with his work many years ago. What you guys do is truly priceless.

  7. Lynette Curtin (08.30.10)

That entranceway is gorgeous! A perfect spot for photos. I say, definitely print that photo of Libby and her dad walking down the aisle for your wall. It’s classic.

  8. Mona (08.30.10)

Oooooh! I am so excited to see these! First of all – CONGRATS LIBBY AND ADAM! You two look absolutely gorgeous and happy!!! :) :) Libby reading your fb status updates the week prior to the wedding were awesome. You were so so so excited, I couldn’t help but smile every time I saw an update posted on my news feed. :)

A few notes – Libby I love how your little “getting-ready” robe is purple like the color of the bridesmaids dresses! Very cute, and yes I notice these things. :)
    Love your beautiful green shoes!
I love the picture of you and your dad in B&W – the happiness jumps right out at you.
First look – I love these. What is even better is right after the first look when the bridal party hops in up there, Libby and Adam look like they could care less anyone else is there – just still kind of in their own world together – beautiful :)
The shot of the B&W floor in the entrance with them – both incredible. Love the contrast – black tux, white dress, B&W floor and pic.

Gorgeous site, what a beautiful day you had to get married at such a beautiful place. OH and I think I bought my brother and sister-in-law the same flutes to use for their toast as well – gorgeous touch. :) The flowers, the decor, everything was great. I heard from my inside source (aka Meaghan) that it was an awesome time too. Hope you guys are enjoying the honeymoon!!! Congrats again on a beautiful day!

  9. Angela (08.30.10)

Absolutely stunning!!! A gorgeous wedding for a gorgeous couple!!

sweet baby james

Posted in: Kids / Family

August 25 2010

A couple years ago we photographed Jennifer and Jim’s wedding. It was back in September of 2008. Their wedding was beautiful, simplistic and fun! It took place at Jim’s parents home in Burnt Hills, NY.  So about 7 months ago Jennifer and Jim welcomed their baby James into the world. They also asked if I would photograph him on the same property the wedding took place. I was honored and said yes. We then began comparing calendars. I say it all the time but when a former bride and groom have you back to take more images for them its the ultimate compliment! So thank you again Jennifer and Jim! Now onto little James. What a cutie! Those big eyes will draw you right in. Congrats to the lucky parents and without further ado, heres Sweet Baby James!

Peace,
JP

Here’s the happy family!

I told you, the eyes on this kid are awesome..

Even in b&w they pull you in.

I was digging this little hat. He looks like a little man here lol.

He’s full of smirks and smiles.

Jame’s father has a nice little collection of antique cars….

You might remember them from their wedding.

You all know I love revisiting shots with the same people in different times of their life’s.

I think he was about done with me here!

One of my favorite spots we shot at from their wedding.

and the rest is history… congrats guys! Great to see you again!

melissa & dave: little bit of city, little bit of country

Posted in: Engagements

August 23 2010

I love sessions like this. What do I mean? I mean I love sessions that are the best of both worlds. When Melissa and David were deciding where they wanted to shoot we ended up choosing two locations. This allowed us to get the best of both worlds shoot. This is something new I’m offering since its become quite popular in 2010. Its great because its like two engagement sessions in one! Anyway, I’m stoked to share these with you all. I just love everything about these images. The cool thing about this engagement session is the lighting kept changing which made the color change constantly as well. It was kind of like that horse in the Wizard of Oz that kept changing color. Lets just say Mother nature was hooking these guys up. Lets hope July 23, 2011 is like this too!  Melissa and Dave are a fun, fashionable and photogenic couple. We’re glad to be also spending wedding day with them too! So without further ado lets get into this one..

Peace,
JP

Oh hey there… Blog world, meet Melissa and Dave

My cobblestone spot in downtown Albany never disappoints.

Not going to lie, I did have a little challenge on this shoot….

it was hard keeping Dave in the frame sometimes ;) I kid!

The color in her dress was awesome. I love the way it reflected the light.

I love these two side by side. Melissa is working it out here.

The sun was doing fun stuff on this shoot. It was sort of behind some clouds which made me end up with some warm skin tones. Aside from the techie stuff its just a fun shot.

I love it.. soft golden backlight is a gift from Mama Nature!

I love how they’re always smiling and laughing…. ok, off to location #2

One our way there I watched the clouds burry the sun. Another gift because the color in the next 3-4 images was just sweet!

We were planning venturing a little deeper into my favorite field but I head something running around and it scared me a little.

Just awesome. All the color is simply beautiful.

By the time I changed my lens the warm light came back out. Crazy right? Forehead kisses.

Here’s my facebook teaser. My favorite thing about the facebook teaser shots are all the brides (and sometimes grooms) always end up making it their profile picture. It always makes me smile when I get the email telling me they did so.

You can’t beat the character on this barn.

It especially looks good in b&w. Is that “posted” sign suppose to scare me?

Oh yeah!

And now Melissa kills it with the eyes.

look at these too, they’re models disguised as people who happen to be getting married next year.

we’ll end it of course with the one and only “bling shot” how bout that rock?

Ok back to you guys, I have to ask, Dave how tall are you??? Melissa is working some awesome shoes there and you’re still tall. My guess – 6′6″?

I really love the country shots. Ok I love the city shots too. The light, you’re right JP, is just peeking in everywhere in different ways. It just hints at some warmth, some light, some blue here and there, some bright, a few golden tones. Real nice.

Melissa – AWESOME shoes. Way to work it. Super cute outfits, you two look great together :)
Dave – Nice bling you’ve outfitted her with there!! Woot!

Seriously though, the field shots are amazing with your outfits. You guys are beautiful together. :) Melissa, I love the underlayer of your hair, with the darker red/burgundy color. Very very cool.

It’s almost September!

Wow! Where did July go? Seriously it was just here a minute ago. It’s that time of summer where the days start to get shorter and a little more cooler. Before we know it we’ll be busting out the fall clothes. So enjoy the rest of August because Septembers right around the corner. Happy blog stalking!
